New Trevor Noah satire with subtitles

Trevor Noah comments with ironic humor on that fact that Donald Trump is supporting the Roy Moore, senate candidate from Alabama accused of harrassing (acosando) and abusing teenage girls.. He also mentions that Trump himself has been accused of sexual harrassment by 18 women. "Birds of a feather molest together". His press secretary defends him by saying that since he was elected after people had heard the "pussy video", it doesn't matter, but Trevor points out that with illegal conduct, a vote is not like a jury! Of course, she doesn't mention that he received 3,000,000 fewer popular votes than Hillary clinton did: something so rarely mentioned on the Spanish news.  (He was elected because Hillary's votes were all concentrated in considerably fewer though very populated states, like California, New York, and in general the northeastern and Western coasts)

Another night of "Trump News " by excellent comic Steven Colbert

Trump is always boasting about how intelligent he is despite much evidence to the contrary.. In Spanish there's a great refrain "Dime de lo que presumes y te diré de lo que careces."

Colbert is wonderful at imitating tRump's voice too.

Older women expressing concerns about life today

Nice video clip of older women talking about how stressful life has become and what things they would change. Unfortunately ( or perhaps fortunately for some) subtitles are in Spanish.The majority are British, the black woman is American and they all have very beautiful clear voices so try to listen a second time WITHOUT reading the subtitles. Notice the difference in the way the American woman pronounces her"r's". Most important, it has a lovely message.

Here he takes on Trump's latest scandal, his accusation that President Obama wire-tapped his phone during the election campaign. To wire tap is get into someone's phone illegally to listen to their conversations. To bug means the same thing. The participal WIRE TAPPING has 2 P's but Trevor points out that on his tweet, Trump spells it TAPP. ( How can someone who mispells a 3-letter word be president of the United States?!

a long Pause and why

I have not added anything at all to my blog for almost 2 months because on January 20th, the same day that Donald Trump was sworn in as President, my husband of over 45 years passed away. So it is a doubly tragic day for me but much more traumatic because of my husband, of course. Yet, after nearly 2 months, I am able to see a positive side because he was increasingly ill for the past 2 years, with 2 types of cancer and kidney and heart failure. Especially the last year, he was suffering a lot, so I can really say Rest In Peace, Fernando and that it had to be a relief for him. He was extremely brave and stoical, 

So instead of putting a political satire, I have looked for a video clip about brave man who lost his limbs ( miembros) in an accident at the age of 19, became a doctor but has very delicate health so he has faced death since then. He talks about the caregiver ( the person who cares for the ill person) and how they  benefit the patient with compassion, which of course I always did my best to do.  He talks about Hospices, which are a kind of intimate hospital for paliative care and how hospitals do great things but are no place to live and die. Fernando was fortunate enough to die at home with his children and me. This is the link to the videoclip.  I hope you don't find it too "rollo."

I've also decided to post the link to my Facebook page, where I talk about Fernando's final weeks and have photos. I almost never get personal in this blog, but because I've had to explain the lack of posts, it was hard to avoid. (CLICK ONTO LINK BELOW FOR MORE PHOTOS)
Fernando Siegfried Beato, my husband of 47 years, with a few separations, passed away last Friday morning at 1 am. For the past 3 years, Fernando was extremely and increasingly ill, with several severe conditions and many hospitalizations. He also suffered from bipolar disorder. But in the end, he passed peacefully and painlessly, at home and in his sleep, just as he wanted to. "Dios aprieta pero no ahoga".
An almost miraculous thing happened 2 weeks before his death. After being hospitalized on New Year's Eve for kidney failure and water in his lungs, and being successfully treated, he suddenly became better than he'd been in years. It was almost like the film "Awakenings" but produced by his extraordinary mind. He was so much better that he was able to spend the weekend at our son's house in the country, which he loved. After giving his last drop of strength,(después de echar los restos), he collapsed, spiraled down and passed away five days later.
