Hi, I'm Andrea and I'm doing the summary for today's English conversation B2 class on 13/11/2013.
ResponderEliminarAt the begining of the class, while we were waiting for the people to come, we asked Kate some questions we had about the presentation we will have to do for the end of the course. Kate told us that she will pos the information about it on the blog next week.
Later, when everybody had arrived we did some role play in pairs where we had to react to other people's stories with expresions like "Really?" "Did he?" "That's awful!" "How wonderful!" "That sucks!" "That's awesome!"...etc
After that, we did some phonetic exercises trying to learn the common vowel sounds and the most important exceptions. We learnt that diptonges in "recEIve" and "belIEve" have the same sound eventhough the way they are spelled are right the opposite.
At the end of the class we left a little time to watch a very funny video which was about the biggest complaint that Spanish-speaking students of English have about English pronunciation; which is that the way the words are written, are not the way they are pronunced. Even some letters or groups of letters are not pronunced in the same way depending on the word... So finally we concluded that English is crazy!
